The International Youth Federation (IYF) has maintained an active presence in Sudan for nearly a decade, working to expand opportunities for young people and strengthen their role in the country’s development. Through its Country Team, IYF promotes youth leadership, participation and capacity development, while providing a national platform through which young people can engage with wider regional and global initiatives of the Federation.
IYF Sudan works with young people, public institutions, civil society, academia and other partners to develop and support initiatives that respond to national priorities and the evolving needs of Sudanese youth. Its work places particular emphasis on leadership development, skills and capacity building, civic participation, social cohesion and empowering young people to contribute meaningfully to their communities and to Sudan’s longer-term development.
The Country Team builds on a longstanding record of youth-focused programming in Sudan, including the Youth Leadership Development Programme (YLDP), which has supported successive cohorts of emerging young leaders. This experience provides an important foundation for strengthening future programmes, partnerships and opportunities for young people across the country.
As part of IYF’s wider international network, the Sudan Country Team also serves as a bridge between national youth priorities and regional and global platforms. It seeks to bring international knowledge, partnerships and opportunities closer to young people in Sudan while ensuring that Sudanese perspectives, experiences and youth-led solutions are represented within the broader work of the Federation.
At the centre of IYF Sudan’s work is a commitment to young people as partners and leaders in development. Through nationally driven action and collaboration, the Country Team aims to contribute to a more inclusive, resilient and youth-responsive future for Sudan.
